When guests first come to our insanely old house, one of the things they get a kick out of is the toilet in the master bathroom. It's not everyday that one can see, let alone use, an old fashioned pull chain toilet. It really does add sophistication and fascination to the most mundane of tasks.
Unfortunately, our beloved old fashioned pull chain toilet broke this weekend. It immediately became clear why these things went by the wayside. They are impossible to fix! There is no access to the tank so Andrew's efforts didn't get very far.
The plumber came over, took one look at it, promptly took a selfie with the toilet, posted it on facebook, and told us we need to buy a new one. We could buy another old fashioned pull chain toilet but they are super expensive and we'd find ourselves back in the same situation the next time it inevitably breaks.
